Guidewire rating testing for PolicyCenter

PolicyCenter’s premium, independently checked to the cent.

UAT shows that rating ran. It doesn’t show that the premium is right. An engine can’t grade its own homework.

Book a Guidewire rating briefing

PolicyCenter rating validation: three ways in, none of them production.

Through the screens

Drive PolicyCenter’s own screens per example and match the on-screen premium against the rulebook.

Through an adapter

Quote through an adapter installed in a non-production environment.

With no API access at all

Export the cases as a sheet in your field names, rate them in PolicyCenter your usual way, and hand back the results file.

Commercial lines, unstripped.

A Business Auto oracle replicates PolicyCenter’s rating to the cent: per-state factors, radius classes, per-vehicle jurisdictions, the minimum-premium window and per-state taxes. Every scenario is checked against the live system. Available in a briefing.

Every Guidewire release. The same cases after each.

Re-run the same graded cases after every upgrade and see which premiums moved. Data-driven runs on live PolicyCenter screens grade each on-screen premium against the rulebook.

PolicyCenter rate book testing

A rate revision becomes a change set with the effective date of the edition it produces. VeriQuant generates a case for every changed row, names the edition that wins for each state and date, and grades PolicyCenter’s premium on the rows the revision changes.

Questions

Isn’t PolicyCenter UAT enough to test rating?

UAT shows that rating ran. It does not show that the premium is right. VeriQuant computes an independent premium from your approved rates and rules and grades PolicyCenter’s premium against it, to the cent.

Do we need API access to PolicyCenter?

No. Drive the screens, quote through an adapter in a non-production environment, or exchange a sheet of cases and results with no API access at all.

How do we keep rating correct through Guidewire upgrades?

Re-run the same graded cases after every upgrade and see which premiums moved. Every case is a match, or a mismatch that names the first rating step that differs.

The next step

Bring us the rating case you worry about most.

A rate revision. A bureau update. A new state. An edge case nobody trusts. In 45 minutes, a senior member of our team walks your VP of Pricing, Head of QA and CIO through how the simulator is built for that case, and how your team runs the comparison in your own QA environment, exactly as you test today.

  • The three flows on your case: set-up, the change, the back-test
  • A live run of the private rate-revision demo, on synthetic data
  • A scoped build for one line of business and one state, then a demo and an evaluation on your rates
